The recent market upswing was underpinned by robust corporate earnings reports and heightened enthusiasm surrounding artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, uneven performance from US technology firms has prompted apprehensions regarding the sustainability of the recovery. This has dampened investor conviction within the technology sector.
Simultaneously, state-backed purchasing activity in China has progressively targeted technology and growth equities, reflecting Beijing's objective to bolster domestic technology advancement and facilitate funding via the public market. Notwithstanding this support, technology shares experienced significant downward trading pressure.
Significant declines were observed in several major equities, with Zhongji Innolight experiencing an 8.8% decrease, Eoptolink Technology declining by 12.3%, and Victory Giant Technology falling 5.3%. Further downward pressure was evident in Foxconn Industrial Internet, which retreated 3.6%, China Merchants Bank, down 1.1%, and Ping An Insurance, which registered a 0.5% decline.
