Local stocks see limited gains, NIFTY up 0.56%

The key equity barometers traded with slight gains in early trade. Nifty opened at 24225 and hit a high of 24227 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Private Bank shares advanced. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched up 534.06 points or 0.69% to 77,443.74. The Nifty 50 index posted modest gains of 134.70 points or 0.56% to 24,213. The broader market failed to keep pace with frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 0.80% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index edged higher by 0.80%. The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 3024 shares gained and 1779 shares fell. A total of 256 shares were unchanged. Nifty Media index rallied 1.57% to 1613. The index has edged up 3.22% in last one month and posted modest losses of 5.02% over last one year. Zee Entertainmen, climbing 5.81%, led the gainers followed by Saregama India, gaining 2.25% and Prime Focus, edging up 1.90%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. Nifty Realty index advanced 1.25% to 906. The index has inched lower by 2.41% in last one month and lost 0.99% over last one year. Brigade Enterpr., up 3.48%, led the gainers followed by Lodha Developers, inching higher 2.94% and Oberoi Realty, adding 1.91%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today. Nifty Private Bank index moved higher by 0.99% to 27478. The index has eased by 2.35% in last one month and inched up 0.63% over last one year. Bandhan Bank, edging up 3.54%, led the gainers followed by RBL Bank, edging up 2.82% and Axis Bank, gaining 1.43%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. In NIFTY500, Balrampur Chini is the top gainer today, spiking 12.74% to Rs 733.80. The counter has risen 13.63% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 65355 in last five sessions compared to 47663.65 over last one month. Asian markets soared on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly higher by 0.25%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is substantially higher by 1.29%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is significantly higher by 1.36%.
